Volunteers from the church will greet you.
They will assist you in filling out the paperwork required to
begin the safe surrender process.

Child-care will be provided on site.

Your family members or friends are allowed and
will go to a waiting area.

Staff will confirm that you have an active
warrant.

If you have an active warrant, your identity
will then be confirmed.

You will meet with a defense attorney to
discuss how you want to proceed with the case and to discuss
your options.

Depending on your charge, you will be seen by
a judge from the D.C. Superior Court or a representative of the
U.S. Parole Commission.

Family members or friends attending with those
surrendering will be allowed in the courtroom for the hearing.

Most likely, your circumstances will be
resolved. The vast majority of 4,000 people surrendering in the
other Safe Surrender cities returned home the same day.

Referrals to social service agencies will be
offered.
